Asphalt Driveway Repair in Fayetteville, NC
Most asphalt driveways don’t need to be replaced. They need the broken spots cut out and patched, the cracks sealed before water gets under them, and the edges built back up. Done in time, that adds years to a driveway for a fraction of the cost of new asphalt.

Call and describe what you’re seeing, or send a few photos. A local crew can usually tell you over the phone whether it’s a patch job, a crack sealing job, or something bigger.
What we repair on driveways
- Potholes and broken-out patches
- Alligator cracking (the small, connected cracks that look like scales)
- Long cracks across or along the driveway
- Crumbling, unsupported edges along the lawn
- Low spots and depressions that hold water
- Damage where the driveway meets the street or garage slab
How a proper patch is done
A lasting patch isn’t cold mix tamped into a hole. The damaged asphalt is cut out with clean, square edges, loose material is removed, the base underneath is checked and firmed up, and new hot asphalt is placed and compacted. The seams are sealed so water can’t work its way in around the patch.
Cold patch from a bag has its place as a stopgap, but it rarely survives a summer of tires and a few heavy storms.
Why driveways break down here
Long, hot summers soften asphalt and let tires and parked cars push it out of shape. Heavy rain from summer storms and the occasional hurricane finds every crack and soaks the base underneath. Once the base gets soft, the surface above it starts to sink and break apart.
Edges fail first because nothing supports them. Cars that drift off the side of a narrow driveway crush the edge into the dirt, and it crumbles from there.
When repair isn’t the right call
If more than about a third of the driveway is cracked into small pieces, or the whole surface has dropped and holds water, patching becomes a losing game. At that point resurfacing or replacement is usually the better money. You’ll hear that up front, before any work starts.

Asphalt Driveway Repair: common questions
Can you fix just part of my driveway?
Yes. Patching the damaged sections is the most common driveway job. The patch will be darker than the old asphalt at first. Sealcoating afterward evens out the color.
How long before I can drive on a patch?
Hot asphalt patches can usually take normal car traffic the same day once they cool. Avoid sharp turns and parking heavy trucks on new patches for the first few days in summer heat.
I’m a landlord. Can you repair the driveway while the tenant is living there?
Yes. Most patch jobs take a few hours. The crew can coordinate timing with your tenant so their car isn’t trapped.
